Ojas in Ayurveda

In Ayurveda, the traditional Hindu system of medicine, ojas is viewed as the quintessence of all bodily constituents—lymph, blood, muscles, fat, bones, marrow, and reproductive fluids. It represents our primal vigor, which underpins physical and mental endurance. Ojas are derived from the essence of digested food, water, air, sensory impressions, and thoughts. On a deeper level, it nourishes higher faculties' development, encapsulates our latent creative potential, and is a storehouse of creative energy.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of raw whole organic A2 milk or almond milk

  • 10 almonds, soaked overnight, peeled and chopped (optional)

  • 2 whole dates, chopped

  • 1/4 teaspoon powdered ginger

  • 1/4 teaspoon powdered cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon powdered cardamom

  • 1/4 teaspoon poppy seeds

  • A pinch of saffron

  • 1/8 teaspoon powdered nutmeg

  • 2 tsp raw organic local honey

Instructions:

  1. Combine the milk, chopped almonds, dates, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, poppy seeds, and nutmeg in a saucepan.

  2. Bring the mixture to a low boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  3. Once boiled, reduce the heat and let it simmer for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  4. Optional: For a creamy consistency, use a standing or immersion blender to blend the mixture.

  5. Pour the drink into a mug.

  6. Add a pinch of saffron on top for garnish.

  7. Add the raw organic honey.

  8. Enjoy this comforting drink that helps build ojas, promotes immunity & helps you with sleep.
